Mission Statement

  • To inspire and support the spiritual and moral imperative of interfaith action on climate change

HKICN Objectives

  • To raise awareness and to educate different faith groups in Hong Kong on climate change and the UN climate process
  • To highlight what different faiths are saying (and doing on climate change) and make a connection in people’s minds on the spiritual and moral imperative of climate change
  • To help coordinate interfaith activities on climate change in Hong Kong
  • Part of and supportive of interfaith climate groups globally and regionally

Launch Date and Duration


  • First interfaith climate conference in Hong Kong, November 23rd 2014 at St John’s Cathedral – co-organisers: Ciara Shannon, Rev’d Catherine Graham and Fr Eamonn O’Brien
  • HKICN officially launched on January 23rd 2015
  • The HKICN reviews its progress on a regular basis

HKICN Membership Structure

  • Membership is open to all faiths in Hong Kong
  • Current membership representation includes members from: Bahai, Brahma Kumaris, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism
  • The HKICN is led by the Steering Committee members and key positions are elected
  • We meet once a month either in person or by Skype
